  After arriving at night, you can find McDonald's nearby, which is quite convenient. The breakfast is still very good, as a business hotel has done a good job.

  Highly recommend this hotel for those staying in the area. Surprisingly quiet considering the location (next to gas station and just off the highway). Only one elevator so I imagine it can be slow if the hotel was busy however I believe it was quiet empty when I was staying. They did block off the back lot for some reason which made parking seem limited. There is a garage though but I wouldn't recommend parking there unless your car is truly compact. Only issue I had was the coffee in the breakfast area was not fresh so basically decided to skip it. Otherwise I thought it was a great valued hotel.

  Greeted with a smile every time I stepped into the lobby. Staff was very helpful & kind. Very clean rooms and hotel entrance. Great location right on the corner of Main Street. Lots of restaurant choices and shopping within walking distance.

  Our stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Castro Valley was absolutely wonderful! The staff at check-in and check-out were super friendly and very customer oriented. The room was clean and very comfortable, making our sleep overnight excellent. The morning breakfast was delicious and the staff member tending to that area was friendly and very conscientious in her stocking of the food and cleanliness of the entire breakfast room. Would definitely stay there again and this was overall a first class experience.

  When I arrived I was greeted with a smile. I was checked in and everything was explained to me about my accommodations. I went to my very clean room showered and went to dinner. So many places to eat around the hotel. Great location. Came back and had a very relaxing evening.

  Overall extremely satisfied with my recent stay! Came for my wedding to get ready and spend our first married night together. Breakfast was delicious and had plenty of variety. Staff definitely was attentive and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed and answered all of our questions. Excellent location close to freeways. Would highly recommend!

  I was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem in the East Bay. Large, clean, quiet rooms. Comfortable bed and a selection of pillows. Personable and helpful staff. Great location with free parking, free WiFi and free breakfast. Highly recommend!

  hotel was clean, close to hwy. front desk very helpful and friendly. IHG membership acknowledged. We have a large 3/4 ton pickup truck. Staff suggested we park in a particular spot where they could keep an eye our vehicle. When we left for dinner, they put a traffic cone there to save our spot.

  We stayed 2 nights with a couple of our grandkids. The room was clean, and the room fridge included the small freezer compartment so we were able to keep our cooler blocks frozen. Grand daughter forgot her blanket and stuffed bear in the bed and the staff is working with us to get them sent to us. We would stay here again.

  My husband and I spent 4 nights at the Holiday Inn Express on Castro Valley Boulevard in Castro Valley, CA. The entire family went for my niece's wedding. The Manager and Front Desk Attendants gave us the best customer service experience I've had in years. The room was clean and the Spa Tub excellent. The pillows on the bed were heavenly. The breakfast was hot and delicious. We will be going back in July for our 30th Wedding Anniversary just because they pampered us so much here. For the rate, this is in my opinion the best hotel in California. Thank you for making a special occasion so memorable. Eva and Patrick Joice

  Very good hotel and the staff are very hospitality, it is the only ihg hotel that offers a welcome snack. The bed is very comfortable and the room is very clean. This city has many good restaurants around and there is also a mini-golf place near the hotel for family fun.

  Thanks to everyone who staffs the Castro Valley Holiday Inn Express. I've stayed there twice. Both times I was dealing with a family emergency. Both times the entire staff was very caring. They made an effort to make me and my husband feel welcome. I truly appreciate everyone. I will be back again mid-June 2022 for the actual burial of my father at the National Veterans Cemetery in Sacramento, CA. Of course, I already booked my room at Castro Valley Holiday Inn Express.

  - Limited breakfast options. - Bathroom had dust present where the towels are stored, and there was a piece of tape on the vanity that was left over from previous occupants which was not taken out by the cleaning crew... which both indicates lack of attention to details when cleaning.

  Our family regularly stays at high-end resorts when traveling but we chose to stay at this hotel due to its proximity to my mother’s care facility. Both times we were warmly welcomed by Raia. She was so helpful and solicitous of our needs. Absolutely stellar in every way! In fact, each one of the employees we encountered were terrific including Eloisa. We loved the employee who runs the delicious morning buffet. She is very gracious and friendly. Thank you!

  Our stay at the Castro Valley Holiday Inn Express was just as we had hoped. The staff was patient and professional. The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. it was also quite quiet. We were in town for a personal engagement, and hoped for a clean place to get some good sleep. We were happily pleased. We appreciated having to wear masks in common spaces. We will be back.

  Our stay at the Castro Valley Holiday Inn Express, not our first, was excellent. The facility was well maintained, the room was clean, and the noise level was minimal. The staff at the front counter on the night we checked in was very friendly and helpful- my credit card was denied, much to my surprise, and she tried it multiple times and then was fine taking a different one. We were hoping for a simple and restful night, and that is exactly what we got. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable, and the accommodation for an accessible shower helped a great deal. We did not eat the breakfast, as we were meeting friends for breakfast, so I am unable to comment on it. We will return, as we visit the Bay Area....and we recommend this hotel to others.

  My sister and I booked a room here after flying in one evening for a family funeral that was taking place early the next morning. We were pleasantly surprised at how large the room was and the amenities of a hair dryer, makeup mirror, and iron and ironing board helped us quickly get ready the next morning. As with all Holiday Inn Express hotels, we experienced a clean comfortable room and would recommend staying here to others.

  2 night stay.. Nice hotel priced fairly.. Clean, quiet, friendly staff. Great location.. Very close and easy access to major highways. Safe and well lit parking. Room not to big but spacious. Comfortable bed with incredibly comfortable pillows! Microwave, fridge, and coffee. I have zero complaints! Great stay! If in that area again I would definately book at this location again with no hesitation.

  I love the location and the Executive Suite Rooms where they are located on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors..., the warm breakfast and especially the rolls were good! I love the quietness and cleanliness of the rooms! The bed slept very well... I would recommend this Hotel any day!

  I love Holiday Inn Castro Valley East - (Castro Valley, CA) - the management, personnel and building is Excellent! I'm a valuable IHG Member and this location is 5-Stars! The location is safe, clean, professional and all members are compassionate and their goal is for our stay to be a pleasant one and they always succeed! I travel for my daughter who attends East Bay University and I do not stay anywhere else but Holiday Inn Castro Valley East - (Castro Valley, CA). It's convenient to freeways, close to CSUEB and easy trek to San Francisco, Oakland and/or Sequoia Forest!! Thank you management for a job-well done to manage the staff who are super professional and compassionate as well as housekeeping for an extraordinary clean room, bathroom, gym and dining!   Located near the highway, but surprisingly quiet. Always greeted when arriving/leaving. Staff is very pleasant. Breakfast was pretty solid, food was fresh and warm. Only downside was sink located outside of bathroom - not ideal. On the upside, a nearby family has some chickens that wander around the land between the hotel and freeway. So we enjoyed seeing chickens walking around outside our window!

  Great customer service. We stayed at this hotel to be closer to my Mom’s funeral service location but the mortuary will not be ready till 12:30 Pm. I had asked them if we can check out at 12 noon instead of the usual 11 am check out and they had accommodated our request. I am very grateful for this. Room was clean. The free breakfast is good.

  I am deaf without use of hearing device meaning I hear nothing at night when sleeping this is the reason for a service dog. This hotel understood the need an over rode their no pet policy They even have a special room for hard of hearing people which would allow flashing light and light sensors for emergency causes. It was extremely comforting to be in hotel A bigger plus they knew the visitors by name

  We did a wedding block for our Wedgewood wedding, and the manager KD was so accommodating and welcoming. When the catering for our rehearsal dinner forgot the plates, he set us up with some of the hotel’s. When our plans changed in 2020 for Covid, it was no problem to switch our block to the following year. When we needed to check in/out at odd hours, he always did his best to accommodate. The hotel itself was clean, modern, and we have no complaints. As an added bonus, I loved the Keurigs in each room!! I had a great cup of coffee the morning of my wedding.

  I just love the nice customer service your receive when you arrive and leave. The room was clean and we slept very well. I would have preferred better breakfast accommodations for the price you pay for a suite or hot tub room. The coffee was cold so we had to heat it up in the micro wave and when arrive; we had to grab more toilet paper and tissues because they were gone....

  It is a new hotel. I had everything that I need (a comfortable bed, clean sheets, a clean room, a small refrigerator, a microwave and a coffeemaker). Everything worked, good wi-fi. 3 nights and 4 days nobody bother me. A room has TV with around 1000 channels but nothing to watch, I had a laptop and cell phone and it helped. The breakfast has not good choices. I eat bananas and oranges; yogurt, cereal and milk probably were good. I don’t know who can eat their “burgers”.

  Our first time staying at the Holiday Inn Express Castro Valley and it won’t be our last. It was a little more then our last stay at another hotel in the area, but it was totally worth the little extra we did pay. It was cleaner, nicer and we felt safer here. Being safe in a not so known area is definitely a must for me and my family, so we will definitely be back!

  We stay at this same hotel every time we go to the East Bay to see our children. The staff is always courteous and friendly. They call us by name each time we enter the property, They are always willing to help, if we have a need. The room was clean and comfortable. They have a good grab and go breakfast right now, Before Covid, there were many choices for a hot meal, and those warm cinnamon rolls, Ahhhh. We are looking forward to having them again, when we get back to normal. We will defiantly stay here again and will suggest this hotel to others.

  The Staff members were awesome and so kind and nice! They were there to meet my needs. My only confusion was about the Breakfast. I spent over 500.00 on two nights stay and couldn't get a decent breakfast, at least boiled eggs and/or pancakes. I understand COVID-19 distancing but breakfast could have been available upon request and preordering to pick it up and leave. I had a banana and a Danish....no coffee offered downstairs either.... The room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable!

  Hello, That is a very nice place to stay. Great staff and manager. I like the breakfast. It cheers me up. Furniture is good and comfy, however, it seems they need to clean up a bit more. Also, the bed should be more firm. Maybe that is my problem but most of the time I wake up with a backache that happens the morning after my stay.

  My favorite hotel to stay whenever I travel to the area. This hotel is always clean and does not have unpleasant odors like many older hotels in the area. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The breakfast room is always clean and well-stocked. Management of this hotel is wonderful!

  I knew I was at the right place when I asked for a late checkout and the young man at the desk immediately called his boss to get authorization. I was very impressed that he did that so that I knew for sure and didn't get back to my room to find my stuff gone. The rest of the staff was great as well and the room was very clean and up to date.   The only very minor issue I had was the ice machine on the 4th floor. It was intermittent during my 3 day stay. A short walk down 2 floors took care of that. I don't consider that a big deal. The young lady that checked me in was very nice and helpful. She deserves a pay raise for her effort in assisting me so early in the day. Her level of effort and kindness deserves recognition. I was able to keep my luggage there, while waiting for a room to become available. I stayed at this hotel years ago, when it was very new. It has maintained a nice and proper level of operation.

  All staff including the manager, front desk and housekeeping were very courteous and quick to attend to the needs of my family who were in Castro Valley to attend the wedding of my son and his fiance. The hotel was clean and the rooms were comfortable. The hotel provided a breakfast each morning with plenty of choices that were prepared and presented well. If I need to stay in the area again I would definitely stay here.

  Just a few tweaks and this would have been an excellent review. A little more attention to detail by the staff and it would've gotten 5's across the board. Just remember if you want coffee in your room to ask for some more before you go to bed and washcloths seem to be hard to come by. But otherwise very clean and always polite and the breakfast is always very good.

  My family of 5 came out for a conference and just needed a place to stay. We were very surprised by the quality stay at Holiday Inn Express. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfast area exceeded our expectations (who doesn't like Cinnabon??), and the staff was competent and friendly. We'd stayed at a couple different hotels over the years for this conference, but we'll be back at Holiday Inn.

  This is a nice place to stay overnight. It is clean and comfy. Be sure to check windows for leaks before unpacking. We experienced a waterfall in our room, management did offer to move us, but we were already unpacked and fatigued. No other solutions were offered but rag towels. At this point, that was fine. Breakfast is basic and good enough to quickly get you started. We will give this spot another chance.

  The unfortunate aspect of our visit was beyond the hotel's control. We were there during the fires and the air quality was horrible. The staff were kind enough to call around to the local stores to find dust masks for us, sadly they were sold out. This hotel was well maintained. At the time we had plenty of parking in the structure, it had adequately lighting. The room had a microwave, refrigerator and plenty of outlets even had the custom outlets for our phone chargers. What I really liked was that they had the shower separated from the sink and mirror. It's annoying when the family wants to get ready and they have to wait for you to get out of the shower. This was a definite plus

  After a long day's travel, it is nice to be welcomed with warm cookies at lobby as you check-in. There's complimentary water and toiletries in the room (I really appreciated the water! I went to two other hotels and no water was complimentary and they were so expensive!) Lovely pillows, ahh I had the greatest sleep. Enjoyed my tub time, too!

  We were in town for a family birthday weekend and this Holiday Inn had the best reviews of any hotel in the area. We agree- the staff worked hard to make our stay perfect and we had no complaints. The staff were also appreciative of our Platinum status by carefully placing our rooms in a quiet location. We look forward to another stay here and do not hesitate to recommend to others.

  Hotel was well lit and clean. Nothing out of the ordinary. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the AC blew cold (like I set it). The bathrooms were clean and in decent condition. The shower plumbing all pointed to the left. I'm not sure if it is a maintenance issue, but it didn't hinder use. As I was there for business, the internet connection was strong and fast enough to have a video conference. The work station was helpful. The breakfast was lacking however. At the hot bar, the food was either still a bit cold, or overheated to the point of being dry/burned. The rest of the food was good. I would not have a problem staying here again, and as I have business in the area, probably will.

  As a doctor working long shifts at the local hospital, having this place to come back to for some R+R has been such a blessing. It is always clean and smells nice, the windows have easy slide-curtains which block the light well, and the fresh cookies and hot breakfasts are a treat. The new remodeling is lovely and it's clear the staff care about guests having a great experience. Have also enjoyed the hot tub, sauna, and treadmill/gym room. Such a restorative place to stay!

  Nice hotel, great customer service and the room was very nice. Comfortable bed; the only issue we had was even with our do not disturb sign on the door, the maid kept opening the door to try and clean our room! She saw the sign but claimed that she didn't see it. That was sooo rude! I was in the shower and my husband was watching TV in his undies and she did again and I informed her that check out was at 11 and our sign was on the door.....we complained to the front desk as well.

  The hotel was extraordinarily clean and well kept. The access was very freeway friendly. Exceptional care and concern for our comfort and needs were exhibited upon check in. The owner or manager overheard our check in and assisted the desk clerk in securing a quiet room location away from a large wedding party that was on premises. This will definitely be our go to hotel as we now have family living just a few miles away.

  staff were super friendly. breakfast was okay... better than most hotel chains... and they kept the food trays HOT and well stocked (even a few minutes before closing time)... and the hours for breakfast were pretty generous. room was very clean, had great linens and towels that actually smelled CLEAN! Our room was facing the highway but was still surprisingly quiet. Commute to SanFran wasn't bad and we were nice and close for the Warrior's game.

  My family of 4 stayed here to visit extended family for Thanksgiving. I'm glad we stayed here. The room was really clean and quiet. There seemed to be plenty of other guests, but I didn't hear them at all from our room. The bed and pillows were comfortable. My husband liked that all bedding (including the spread) was white and easily washable. The breakfast included cold cereal, instant oatmeal, yogurt, simple omelets, mildly spicy omelets, bacon, sausage, biscuits

  We were visiting family and chose to stay in your hotel due to the location. We were pleasantly suppressed to find great accommodations ! Everyone we encountered was very friendly and helpful! The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean! The rates were pretty high but i understand how " supply and demand" works . More breakfast choices will be appreciated! Definitely will stay there again when visiting family in the area!

  We were in Hayward for our daughter's college graduation, and I would definitely recommend the Castro Valley Holiday Inn Express. The customer service was friendly and attentive. The room had everything we needed, including a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker, and was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic. Usually you get some stale Danish and a few cereal options. This breakfast included bacon, eggs, pancakes, and a lot of other options. Checkout was easy as well. We are definitely glad this is the hotel we stayed in!

  Handy parking. Breakfast choices were great. Coffee in the room was OK but weak breakfast coffee. Comfortable bed and plentiful towels. DISH TV was a pleasant surprise. Internet access was good. Plenty of power outlets for charging devices. Personnel were very helpful when anything was needed.

  Poor service from the front desk with a perfectly decent room. The room itself was fine, clean and comfortable enough. The housekeeping staff clearly takes their job seriously. Unfortunately, the front desk staff offered solutions to a room problem but then never followed up with any of them, or later even acknowledged the problems in the first place. This hotel has nothing in particular to recommend it, but it fulfills the basic requirements cleanly and reasonably comfortably.

  I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Holiday Inn Express at Castro Valley. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming and always greeted us whenever we walked past. The rooms were spacious and in good condition. The bathroom was cosy but very clean and tidy. The self-serve breakfast selection was average, but the staff were always on-hand to assist if necessary. Access to the highways was excellent and I had no problem finding a parking space. The quality of this Holiday Inn Express is superior to some of the standard Holiday Inn hotels I've visited and I'd recommended it as a good base for exploring the Bay area if you have a car.

  Two weeks prior to my sons wedding, the wedding venue closed and we had to relocate the wedding. I talked to Elizabeth and she was able to get us about 10 rooms blocked for our guests and got some of us early check-ins so the wedding party could get ready for the ceremony. Her and the weekend staff were very accommodating and patient as we were running around crazy. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was not bad. We appreciate everything that they did and would highly recommend this hotel.

  My husband and I were in town for a wedding and this HIE was within proximity to the ceremony and the reception which worked out great. The staff … Elizabeth was amazing giving so many of us what seemed like personalized attention. All were accommodating, friendly, and put everyone in our party at ease. The only major disappointment was the room. I have no idea what a regular room looks like but our "upgrade" in terms of layout was very strange … the jacuzzi was tucked into a corner of the sleeping area next to the media center which did not make it appealing. The bathroom … lighting was awful especially for putting on makeup or shaving. There was basically one overhead light that was on a motion detector and this is hilarious — if you have a sense of humor — the light would go off while you were in the shower and not moving enough so each time the bathroom would go pitch black. And with only one sink with poor light … we had a hard time getting ready. Thankfully there was a closet mirror. We seemed to have been placed in a room to accommodate disabilities which in general is great to have those room types but for us … I think that's why the lighting was weird et al. Other than our odd room … our stay was really nice because of the staff. It is safe, clean and comfortable.

  You hotel was very accommodating to our wedding guests. Thank you for the attention you gave us. Beautiful rooms with comfortable, dark rooms. I enjoyed the high bar stools and counter in the great room where I could eat and work on my laptop first thing in the morning. Looking out to the beautiful flowers was pleasing. We hated to leave because everything was so relaxing.

  This is the 2nd time my family and i have stayed here. The staff is always welcoming and always warm. The lobby smells amazing, the breakfast is delicious. The rooms are comfy too, the bed is almost as good as my home one. Also, they have Soft, Med and Firm Pillows to choose from in each room, that rocks! Lastly, one very nice lady on the staff, I forget her name now, noticed that my children were walking out with a basketball. She was about to take a few cones and block off the back parking lot area so they could play there. How cool is that?!?! They were gong to a local school but it was the motherly gesture that I loved! Again you all rock at this hotel!

  When we travel across place to place alone, we always in search of people with whom we can talk, with whom we can spend a jolly time, with whom we laugh loud, with whom we share a cigarette over a funny conversation. Holiday Inn Express, Castro Valley is the best hotel, best place to live. The crew members are awesome and very friendly. This hotel is best maintained because it is maintained by beautiful people working there with care and prosperity. I love this place because it is in a very good location. Breakfast is nice and the green tea bags they provide are awesome :). The front desk people are good and they will spare you with smiling face if you talk weird sometimes also. They are such nice persons. The General Manager is the dude and the showstopper of the hotel and you can find the owner (who owns the property) running here and there in morning time everyday to check whether everything is correct, to ensure everything is falling in line. No need to worry about food if you stay at Holiday Inn Express, Castro Valley. Mexican, Italian, French everything is available in walking distance. I stayed there a long time there and they feel me comfortable by talking to me, laughing with me over jokes, suggesting me places to spend time across there. Overall i rate this hotel the best ever i have stayed in USA.

  My mother-in-law had passed away 3 days prior so it was a difficult time for us. We couldn't have asked for a better stay considering the circumstances. Our room was awesome, my brother-in-law stayed with us. Everything neat and clean. It lacked nothing. The continental breakfast was delicious and had such a variety of food. There was even an August special that you could get pancakes from I think 8pm - 11:30 or so. My husband was down there for that. He brought them up to the room to watch tv and enjoy his "snack". Everyone was very helpful. The young lady behind the desk at night helped me a couple of times with the computer and she didn't get upset with my many questions. We asked about places to eat and they gave us a list of different kind of food and restaurants. We asked for their recommendation and it was all wonderful. The very best part of staying was Shanon. Oh my gosh, she welcomed us, comforted us, and was on top of what was happening. She was so kind and inquired how we were doing and gave us encouraging words every time we saw her. We didn't know what her position was at the hotel because she was everywhere and she seemed to be there day and night!!! She was working behind the front counter, in the breakfast room, in the elevator taking a laundry basket somewhere. She never stopped working! We cannot say enough about her! All the employees were great. There was only 1 thing missing and that was a swimming pool, but there was no room for one. They did have a hot tub we used 1 night but a pool would have been the icing on the cake!

  The staff at this hotel are friendly, helpful and genuine. They treated me with respect and kindness. They made me feel they genuinely cared about my needs and feelings. I felt extremely safe, both in the hotel and when going in and out at night. The air conditioning is on a thermostat, so the room temp fluctuated between warm and cool, but it was never uncomfortable. The food choices were what you'd expect: basic. What made this an exceptional stay was the professionalism and warmth of the staff. I'd go again in a heartbeat.

  This hotel has been recently updated to a Holiday Inn Express from another brand. The bed was comfortable and the TV had a good selection of stations. The Internet worked well. The employees were very friendly and helpful. We had an issue printing from the Business Center, and the Front Desk agent helped us in printing our boarding passes from the front desk as we had an early morning flight the next day. The hotel has only a single elevator which was also updated, but is rather slow. For an updated hotel, we were also disappointed with the bathroom. It didn't look as though the room with the toilet and shower/tub (sink was outside the bathroom) had been updated at all. Sink area was nice and provided plenty of room. Room was large. Couch looked very worn for a recently refurbished hotel. We were acknowledged as Reward Club Members and told that we had complimentary waters waiting for us in the room, although they were nowhere to be found. Overall a nice hotel, but a few extra dollars in the refurbishment would have gone a long way in making this a 5-star Holiday Inn Express.
