  The hotel room was extremely clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable and the shower drained (something I always take note of when staying at hotels). The blinds on the front window didn't provide maximum privacy, but they did the trick.

  Positive: This place was fine. Clean and simple. Thank God for Rodeway if it wasn¿t for them we¿d be sleeping in our car. Oceana boutique motel canceled on us as we checked in. Negative: Ask us about Oceana Boutique Motel the original place we had booked. The evening we went to go check in they canceled on us. Gave us a lame excuse about a power outage & rudely told us to leave. Oceana Boutique motel is a roach coach run by druggies.

  Rooms were clean, staff was great and polite, the location can not be matched by any other hotel. The location is 4 minute walk from the beach with plenty of amenities and fun things to do. Check out was at 11 and despite running a few minutes behind the hotel worked with me every step of the way.

  This hotel is clean, up to date and the staff friendly. My only somewhat negative observation is that the lighting in the room is TOO BRIGHT and there is no way to minimize it. It felt like bright street lights were mounted in the room and there was no way to dim them. I believe that the hotel needs to offer more subdued lighting options to make an evening in the room more comfortable. But other than that the place offers good value and a decent location.l

  Overall it was better than expected. Over the years I have stayed in presidential suites to dumps. This stay was above average for the class and price of the hotel. With just a few minor upgrades it would be a great go to, stop over Hotel.

  My husband and I stayed here for a short weekend. The location is great- within walking distance to many restaurants, shops and about a mile to the beach! The room was clean and spacious and we loved the balcony we had. The employees were very friendly. I do feel we paid an inflated price for what it was (motel) but I guess it was a holiday weekend. Seems to be a lot cheaper on weekdays/non-holidays.

  This place is obscenely overpriced and the value of the room is at least half. Okee we’re in a “non smoking” room that smelled tank of cigarette smoke. The wifi was completely non functioning it was so slow- I just disabled all my wifi devices and used data in order to look anything up. They need to drastically lower the price or do an overhaul to update this location. I have a fairly low bar for hotel rooms; it’s just a place to lay your head on vacation. This was awful- I would not go back and would recommend anyone else staying there very strongly.

  Economical , Maintenance work needed to be completed before rooms are issued . Price adjustments are in order for the outdated room attire but overall I’d reserve without hesitation due to surrounding hotel’s are much more expensive.

  Positive: The location was decent, the room a somewhat good size and it was quiet. Negative: They do not allow pets as advertised and don¿t even like your service dog being there either. Your only allowed one towel per guest. They do not clean their basement parking.

  I enjoyed the location of this hotel and the room was a pretty decent size, even bigger than I had expected. I like that it had the basic necessities like a fridge and microwave, which we did use quite frequently. I would definitely stay her again considering it wasn’t too far from the beach either. Overall very happy with my stay.

  I don't know if this hotel is under new management, but this stay was uncharacteristically unpleasant. The customer service was poor, which was puzzling because it did not seem to be a busy night to stay. When I inquired about a second floor room that didn't face the main street , the front desk clerk claimed that all rooms on the second floor faced the main street. I've stayed at this hotel many times and knew this to be untrue. Even if what the clerk claimed was true, she was cold and dismissive which made me feel even more unwelcome. The front desk clerks were unfriendly and terse at check-in, during stay and at check-out. I've stayed at this location many times and the customer service usually friendly and accommodating. When I checked out of the hotel the next day and turned in my room card at the front desk, the clerk was not warm or friendly (he didn't even say hello). He looked at me coldly when I warmly said I was turning in my room card. He didn't say "thank you for your stay" or "we hope to see you soon"...what a professional hotel clerk would say to a guest. ...disappointing.

  A small, simple, and cute little hotel. Clean, spacious rooms, many power outlets. Check in and check out was easy. Located near several great restaurants and cafes. Not too far from the beach. Heating and cooling unit was good. There was no closet but as we stayed only the night, it was fine for us. An iron and ironing board as well as hot water machine and hair dryer were provided. Minimal toiletries - A bottle of shampoo and two bars of soap. Good for a night! Luckily, parking spots at the hotel were available but the space is small. Note on the lobby door mentioned additional parking space elsewhere.

  Nous sommes un couple ayant passé 3 nuits au Rodeway Inn de San clemente Les chambres sont agreables (propres, climatisation qui ne fait pas trop de bruit, literie confortable) , les employés très aimables. L'hôtel est très bien placé : à proximité de la plage et des restaurants et bars pour sortir le soir Comme tous les motel, il est situé à proximité d'une route principale donc il y a un peu de bruit la nuit mais cela ne nous a pas dérangé C'est un très bon rapport qualité prix !

  Rodeway Inn with a quiet comfortable place. Continental breakfast could have been a lot better. The location was very nice near San Clemente downtown and the beach. Free trolley takes you to whatever beach you want to go to. Nice kids playground across the street.

  Poor electricity (many outlets didn't work, blew out my charger, blowdryer kept cutting out). Wifi very poor. Breakfast VERY minimal. Often no parking except on the street. One night, some people banged on our door, threatening and swearing. I called the lobby, who just called back a few minutes later to report that they couldn't see anyone there anymore. It would have been nice to have real-time security cameras that could help with the situation... But these concerns are worse than the overall experience seemed. They were just quirks I could have done without.

  I stayed 3 nights on the 4th floor. Room was adequate and clean. Parking was available 2 nights but full on Saturday. Breakfast is pre packaged bagels, sweet rolls, packets of oatmeal, coffee and a toaster. The staff is nice, location is good and the price was the best I could find for San Clemente. Don’t expect any frills.

  Understanding that Rodeway is the basic brand for Choice, this location is pretty close to the beach and shopping. For a decent shower and place to sleep, it serves it's purpose. Parking wasn't a problem for me, but could be a problem during peak/vacation times. The room was generally clean, but needed some extra dusting. If there were items to change, it should be additional access points (the wi-fi kept disconnecting me every few minutes), and they really need to get better tasting coffee. Otherwise, I would stay there again if I were visiting San Clemente again for a day or two.

  Our group had a great stay at the Rodeway Inn in San Clemente. The hotel is affordable and walking distance to the beach and many restaurants/shops. The rooms where clean with comfortable beds. I have to give kudos to Lois, who checked us in and was very helpful with answering any questions we had regarding the surrounding area. Thank you!

  I stayed at this hotel last summer and enjoyed it so much I decided to come back again to beat the Las Vegas heat. After a very long drive I was greeted with a smile and a "welcome back" from Malu at the reception desk. She was kind enough to give me the same room I had last year. I have no complaints at all. Free covered parking is great. The rooms and bathrooms are beyond clean and that's all I'm looking for. I don't need all the "bells and whistles". If you're looking for good lodging in a safe, clean, friendly hotel, then give this Rodeway in a try. I'll be back next July. Thank you again Malu for your kindness.

  Hotel was clean and could see the ocean from our room. Convenient to downtown shops and restaurants. La Siesta across the street was great. Outlets were great. Close to San Juan Capistrano too. Restaurant by the pier for crepes and sandwiches was great. Good value for the money. No security latch on the door. Otherwise very comfortable.

  The hotel on the outside was super cute! Inside was pretty old, and not the cleanest. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, and just felt itchy. It was your average motel. The worst part was the extremely rude staff when I called before my arrival, and when I arrived. She was very annoyed that I was changing my credit card on the reservation. The other woman when I arrived was SO annoyed that we were early before check in. She did however, let us check in early, but slammed the glass window as soon as she gave me the keys.

  Don't let the staff lack of smiling and personality deter. We've stayed here the last few years when in town. They never smile or seem as though they enjoy your presence (although we are nothing but the opposite). For what it's worth, the price is great for what you get. Do wish they had better "breakfast" options. I know that's not what we pay for when staying here, but I would at least love to get a smile ONE TIME when we come here haha. I do recommend the stay. Location and price are reasonable and quite comfy! There is a way to select a "military discount" when booking, but they don't actually offer any discount.....also meh

  I accidentally booked a smoking room but The hotel staff was nice enough to give us a non-smoking room which we preferred. They give us no problems about the mixup. The room they offered us was very clean, and although the doorlock require their assistance each time we needed them, they didn't give us any trouble with the extra needed assistance. I would stay here again in a heartbeat due to its location, cleanliness, and friendly staff/the family who operates this particular Rodeway Inn.

  This is a quite modest place. The room was spacious and the king bed was comfortable, except for the half-sized pillows, which seemed odd. Overall appearance was very basic and plain. Good TV and there's a microwave and fridge in the room. Ice maker two doors away and around the corner was very loud. OK value for San Clemente, but in a less affluent area I'd expect to pay about $70 a night. We skipped the free continental breakfast, which was to be laid out on a shelf in the small lobby.

  I was very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Location was good, and the room was spacious and very clean and neat. Good towels and very clean bathroom. The beds and bedding were very comfortable and it was great to have a microwave and a refrigerator with a freezer. The internet was good and the TV was nice. Really we had only two complaints: the pillows were absolutely awful (SO lumpy and round) and we we were charged for a having a safe in the room. We had no need for a safe and didn't use it. When asked about it, the proprietor removed the charge, but I would've been really angry if I hadn't noticed the fee until after I left.

  This hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. For us the location was perfect. We were on the 3rd floor and could see the ocean sunset. If you like breakfast be prepared to go out, only grab an go items available and of course hot coffee. Our over all stay was great and we will defiantly be back.

  This hotel is right off El Camino Real the main street closer to the PCH end. The hotel has a pleasant appearance and the rooms are furnished nicely, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom area was clean. There is ample parking and continental breakfast I offered which is just the basics. Overall for the peak season in which I stayed I found this to be a good value.

Tried doing it being we got there and claimed cc didn't work several times but when we got there in person it somehow worked. But when she called while on road to tell me it didn't work she insisted I give another one to hold room or she'd cancel reservation. But other than that the stay was great. The room was great.

  Our family drove to San Clemente for 4th of July on the beach. The hotel was clean, inside and out, and staff was quite helpful. Parking was readily available and our larger vehicle was easily accommodated in the underground parking. Breakfast was of the continental variety, and depending on the floor you're on, some road noise is present. Overall, it was a great place for us to stay over the holiday weekend.

  The service we received upon arrival was excellent and helpful. The room choice was very nice and we were happy to take the stairs to the upper floor in order to have a more quiet stay. The hotel staff gave us a choice in which room we preferred to have. The biggest drawback for the money spent is the very inexpensive and non-healthy choices for breakfast. You have to look elsewhere for a filling meal that is healthy and spend additional money that would be nice to save for other venues. Otherwise, the room was very clean and we were not disturbed in any way even though the hotel sits right on the main street.

  When we arrived I discovered I had booked a smoking room by mistake. The place was pretty well booked but thanks to the manager we were able to move to a non-smoking room. The room had a fridge, micro wave and ironing board. There was under building parking. The location was a good one for our needs. We had a good night's sleep.

  This motel is located in a nice area of San Clemente. While it is a bit difficult to figure out where the entrance is from El Camino Real it has a very nice exterior appearance. The white with blue trim is very enticing. There must be some kind of spicy cooking going on in the lobby area. That needs to be stopped. The carpet in our room was stained and did not appear to be clean. The bed was very comfortable but the four tiny pillows were horrible. Other Rodeway Inns have six nice standard pillows for their King beds. This had four very mushy pillows with over-size pillow cases. The Continental Breakfast was passible but lacked cold cereal and milk. The tv remote was nearly impossible to use. The lighting in the room was extremely bright. The room we stayed in is not up to ADA code.

  This hotel has such a cuteness about it. It's mall but so cozy and wonderful. The Beds were so comfortable and the rooms were very clean. The light were VERY bright but nothing that turning them off couldn't fix. Parking in the late night was a bit difficult but again nothing to keep me from staying here again. Over all this is a great place to stay. PS: If there was a pool you it would be the cherry on top. :)

  We were very pleased with the size and layout of our room. We had been staying at other motels and occupying typically small rooms with double beds. This room was much larger with a refrigerator and microwave. The double beds were queen sized and the shower was great as well. Overall the accommodations exceeded our expectations. We really got a great value for the price.

  The desk clerk, Lois was just awesome. My boyfriend and I are in our young 20s so we weren't sure how she'd react to us and she was so sweet and polite. Nobody came in to clean after we left but we didn't care, we didn't make a big mess and we can make our own bed. They were all pretty nice though, what I saw of them. One thing that really stood out was that this place was SO clean for the price. We plan to stay here again. Checking in and out was also very easy. We really enjoyed it here but parking fills up fast after a certain time of day!

  Hotel was in a great location and the best rate I could find for the 4th of July holiday in San Clemente. Breakfast had enough variety to choose from to make a good basic meal: some fruit, juice, oatmeal, bagels, danish, coffee but get there early so you have a good selection. Parking was good too with backup underground garage had no problems finding a spot on any of the days. Room was clean and had all the basics you need. bathroom was bright/clean, air was fine, great to have a microwave and mini-fridge in there and a blowdryer too a very good setup! Close to the I-5 freeway and restaurants/fast food, stores, groceries and the beach. Will stay again when I come back to S.C. :0)
