  They gave us an upgrade with an outdoor patio facing the fire pit and the pool. It was nice to step outside and walk, relax, see some view. They were also kind enough to give us a late checkout as my husband was not feeling well that day. I highly recommend this hotel! Amazing, friendly and honest staff at the front desk!

  This dog friendly hotel is in a great location with easy parking and it welcomes your pet!!! (For a fee, but that's OK!!) The staff was great especially Holly and Kaitlyn!!

  If you want to stay in the dana point area and stay under a 500 dollar budget, this is the place. You can see the ocean from the hotel. Your only a 4 minute drive to the beach. It's easily accessible to the 5, less than 2 minutes. The staff was extremely helpful. It is not one of those grab and go breakfast. There are 3 warm choices per day, plus muffins and cereal. Excellent value, plus a great location. We will definitely be back. Oh, I forgot the hot tub was very hot and with a view!

  Everything was wonderful except they never cleaned our room or refreshed towels, etc, during our three day stay. We did not put the “do not disturb” sign up. They just never came by to make beds or freshen things up. No big deal.

  Long story short, We got stuck in the elevator for almost an hour. Horrible feeling, anxiety, stress and made us late for our event. Customer service was not good. Lack of communiation and compensation. If my husband wasn't there to open the doors internally then I would've been stuck there longer. Response time by the fire fighters was great considering the circumstance. Once doors were open all we saw was the firemen and my husbands dad and wife. Where was the hotel staff.... any hotel staff? Not there and called the wrong room to see if we were ok and still didn't call our room. Not happy at all. Things can happen but giving good customer service can make a situation better.

  It's always a very pleasant experience to stay at the Residence in at Dana point. This is the only hotel I will stay at when I come to visit family. They do a great job, and the staff is always helpful and nice.

  As I previous stated on all points of your property it fails to meet basic standards and cleanliness, inside and out. Did not have supplies for Kitchen per the website. No notification that construction would be in process and no recognition of an elite status. Asked to be put on the higher floor which is the third floor. The front desk, H. Employee advised me that they where not placing guests on that floor due to construction. I reported to her that the guests above us were making obnoxious noises, she had no explanation. The noise continued. While I was at the front desk, your staff checked in guests to the third floor. Never during my 14 day stay was I offered any opportunity to move to the third floor.

  I stay here frequently and normally enjoy the location and the staff service. The last 4 or 5 stays though the place is showing age and an overall lack of maintenance. Rooms need updating and better cleaning.

  Terrible bed, worn interior, noisy AC and constant freight trains. Some of the staff were terrific and some not so much. The coffee was good and the breakfast was fine but don't expect to get your trash emptied of easily get new towels.

  Overall This hotel was clean and located in a good place. Beyond that what a disappointment. The bed was garbage, the linens and towels were cheap, they charged 20$ for a cup of soup, some crackers and an ice cream yet offer no on-site food options. The costal view they offer as a selling feature was blocked by trees and the train noise was horrible.

  We expecting the typical hwy hotel when booking our stay at the Residence Inn. We were wrong. The grounds are beautiful, as was our room. The staff that checked us in were very nice and helpful. We had time to lay by the pool, which is surrounded by a beautiful garden and view, including a view of the Ocean. I will definately book this hotel again when needing to stay in the area!

  The grounds aren't kept up and the hotel is dirty. The kitchen cabinets were filthy and the carpet was very sticky. I know this because when I would walk from the carpet to the tile my shoes were sticky. I wouldn't dare go barefoot. The rooms need updating and the grounds need to be cleaned. Disappointed.

  The facility id very big, comfortable and modern. Even inside the hotel there are a few options to have good time. Fire pit, pool, jacuzzi, putting field, basketball half court and you even walking around the hotel is entertaining. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in

  We had a great time. Our plane trip home was cancelled and they made room for us! Staff is very accommodating, but with Marriott’s price increases, I feel that rooms should be serviced more than every 4 days, if only to check trash, supplies like toilet tissue, coffee, etc. We had to call all the time, staff got it to us quickly, but kind of a pain. Convenient location so we will stay again soon!

  The location of this hotel is excellent. Close to freeway, beaches and fun spots to explore. The amenities were a great perk too. The kids enjoyed the pool, basketball, and the putting green. Laundry room was well equipped to handle multiple families. Staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Our only recommedation is the hotel needs to be updated. The walls and carpet are showing their wear and would benefit from a refresh. The mattresses and furniture could use an update as well. All in all, we were happy with our stay and would return.

  I recently spent 6 weeks here along with my cat and dog. My condo was flooded so we stayed while extensive repairs were completed. While I was kind of forced into my stay, it was really a terrific experience. Every request I made was handled beautifully. Your entire staff, and I mean every one of them, couldn’t have been better or more accommodating. Kudos! The suite I stayed in was so comfortable, and your maids are great. They arranged to come and clean during our trips to the dog park, which was ideal. When I checked out I accidentally left behind my cat’s scratching post. I rushed back early the next morning on the off chance the hotel staff had held it for me, and was delighted when the front desk agent went and retrieved it. I was once again impressed with all the members of your staff. I worked as a bellman at the St. Regis Monarch Beach for 14 years so I know exceptional service when I see it. And I saw loads of it at Residence Inn San Juan during my stay. I’ve already recommended you to several people. Thanks for everything!

  Our room was very dirty. We are from the area originally so we knew our way around and although location is good the freeway or train noise is not peaceful. I will say the staff was nice! There was very few kitchen items in our room to use.

  The hotel is nice, clean, and centrally located for the area. The breakfast is really weak compared to other properties I've stayed at. They often run out of towels at the pool if you don't get them early. Management does not respect or offer any special recognition for Bonvoy members with status.

  I was very disappointed in the quality of the room. The toilet ran all night because the handle kept getting stuck or something. The edging between the kitchen and carpet, was coming apart and I stepped on the sharp edge. I had to ask 3 times for pillows and blanket for the pull out for my child the first day. They fixed the toilet and then glued the section of the floor between the kitchen and carpet and put down ducktape on the other edge. The room also, had a horrible smell the first day and we had to leave the window open for a few hours while we left. Just really disappointed for a Mariott hotel and for the price we paid.

  We brought the grandkids to California for our annual summer trip with them. I chose this hotel because the second bedroom had two beds for the kids ages 19 & 17. It's a convenient location and the staff was great in helping us with any issues. The downside is the freeway traffic noise or train noise depending on where your room was located. The pool is not very big and chairs can be hard find if it's busy. We had a great vacation at this hotel.

  Of course there’s the train… it wasn’t as bad as I expected, but they do blow their horn past 10 on occasion. The two biggest downfalls for us were that there was absolutely no Internet connection in our room our whole stay, even with Marriot providing free Internet. Secondly, the windows above the desks which happen to be directly in front of the beds, have curtains that are mounted on the outsides of the window frames and therefore, the morning sunlight comes beaming directly into your eyes at 6am or earlier. For those reasons, we wouldn’t stay at this hotel again.

  Good location and amenities, but our particular room, at the edge of the hotel, had poor wifi, which they attempted to fix but could not. I think they just didn't have a strong enough signal for that part of the building, as my connection in the lobby was great. Our room also had a dog smell in the carpet which we did not love, but got used to over time. If you are a light sleeper, you will probably be woken up in the morning by the traffic or the train.

  Overall, we love Residence Inn hotels by Marriott. This is one of the better ones. It was great access to Dana Point beach and coastal areas. Breakfast was good. Because of Covid, they served hot eggs and bacon or sausage. Only issue during the stay was the fire alarm going off at 5am but that's probably because someone was smoking in a guest room. Can't blame the hotel for that. Alarm was extremely loud. Hotel finally was able to reset it after a few minutes.

  We enjoy staying at the Dana Point Residence Inn for its convenience, cleanliness and the friendly attention by manager Hope and her team. This trip, for the first time in the many many times we've stayed at the hotel, the wifi wasn't functioning properly which caused a number of headaches. Once they repair the wifi situation the hotel will be a 10 again in my book.

  My family found the hotel to be spacious, clean, and comfortable. The hotel location is not close to downtown, but you can drive short distance, or can take shuttle, which stops at the hotel. We have no complaints.. We are planning to return.

  This hotel was very nice & in a great location. Our room was very clean. The pool area was very nice. It is also a trolly stop & the trolley is free. The only problem we had is with the poor Wi-Fi signal at our end of the building. It was bad to nonexistent.

  We usually book Marriott properties for their great service, cleanliness and amenities. This location was a disappointment. Do your research - there are other properties with much more to offer - maybe not as new but definitely better staff and overall cleanliness. Our room smelled, the only two windows faced corridor walls- almost felt like I was out there because I had 3 kids and a dog. When I asked about moving to a different room I was told it was too late in the day and that I would have to pay a new pet deposit. I was there with my kids because I have asthma and we had some emergency work being done. The person at the desk could have cared less. My kids liked the pool- but we left and spent the rest of the week at a smaller beachfront hotel for significantly less money.

  The customer service here cannot be beat. The Manager, DeAndre, is a pleasure to work with. He fixed our TV for us, and is very friendly and kind. The entire service staff is cheerful and helpful. I understand breakfast was limited due to Covid, but in light of that, not bad! Enjoyed the omlettes (be sure to ask). The rooms were quite roomy, even the studios. Would recommend the hotel stock the kitchen a bit more, but other than that, was adequate. The location of the hotel right next to the 5 freeway made it easy to head out and sight see. Only a short distance from downtown San Juan Capistrano.

  The positives; the hotel was clean, it seemed like they followed Covid guidelines, and the room was well appointed (but the kitchen had no dish soap, and there was only a used sponge under the sink - no new one, which surprised me given Covid cleaning measures - I wasn't about to use a used sponge). The staff was friendly. The negatives; future guests considering their options need to know the property is located on a very highly traveled corner, a freeway on-ramp, and right below the highway, and apparently on the other side of the hotel, a freight train goes by on an unpredictable schedule! Our 4 night reservation ended up being a 2 night one because we couldn't take the noise and got no sleep due to the revving motorcycles, cars and trucks, honking horns and trucks on the freeway, which went on all night. If you do go, and have issues with the noise, they will offer you sleepy time tea to help you relax, and apparently they also have ear plugs available if you know to ask for them. Oh, also be aware there is a $16.00 per night fee to park in their lot. In fairness to them, it IS listed on their website but there was no mention of it upon check in and I didn't see any signs. They were nice enough to waive that voluntarily because of our experience.

  We loved our stay! With the friendly and detailed check-in, the awesome accommodations and a perfect location. We received a 1st floor room which is not my first choice but it was perfect. The room was spacious with a sliding door to a small furnished patio overlooking the pool and greenbelt. Even with covid precautions they found a way to serve complimentary breakfast. I was impressed. I travel often and work in the travel industry- so trust my advice. I will stay here again.

  All around a disappointing stay , from check in on, You would think in these times the Hotel Industry would go out of there way to make customers feel like they were welcomed , not so . Not a cheap hotel by any means and I have been treated / appreciated much better at hotels half the price. Has anyone from the Hotel / Travel industry ever slept on one of the fold out / pull out beds. Once you make it up yourself with stained holey sheets you get to carefully position yourself between the spring so you are'nt getting jabbed and if you are lucky you can sleep in that position all night .. But don't move. In the end you realize it is much more comfortable on the floor . Then when you get up early as is common with business vacation/ travel , the take to your room prepackaged breakfast bar is not open so you dare to try the in room coffee. Not a good idea,

  We stayed for a night on a quick getaway midweek. Walking into the lobby, we were impressed right off with the view straight through to the pool and the ocean in the distance. The hotel sits atop a bluff with a great view. We had a nice walk to the beach. The Tuesday evening mixer was really an unexpected treat. Good food and plenty to drink. Staff was very nice in making it a good time. It truly was like visiting friends. Breakfast was typical for Residence Inn locations but perhaps a little nicer. The rooms have good layout with separate sleeping and sitting/working areas. Capistrano, Dana Point, and San Clemente are all handy. We could definitely have stayed for a week. Maybe we will next time!

  We stayed here as our family was on vacation in the area. Spent four nights. The hotel is clean and staff very friendly. The rooms are spacious, have a kitchenette which was super helpful. We went to a nearby Trader Joes for snacks and lunch options. The pool and hot tub were nice, there is a putting green and basketball court which the kids enjoyed. The breakfast is fantastic and many options available.

  The hotel staff is great! Very speedy check in service. Be aware there is a daily $16 parking fee and you are only parking in the open parking lot. I did not have a car and was charged this fee, but they quickly corrected it, so just make sure to look over your bill. The breakfast was average. Rooms are comfortable with a full equipped kitchen. Grocery store within a 3 minute drive. There is a trolley that will make several stops throughout the town. If you are light sleeper or want to sleep in, request a room away from the highway. We had room at the very end facing the highway and never could sleep pass 6 AM. There is a train that is very loud on that end of the hotel also. Asked to move rooms, but was told they were full and was given earplugs which didn't help. I would stay here again, but only if I receive a room at the other end of the hotel.

  Stayed for five weeks during home repairs. The staff made a difficult time easier and actually helped me relax. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful...I was in a one bedroom and when repairs were extended checked into a studio. Both were clean and had a nice kitchen. Comfy sofa and mattress The complimentary breakfast was great way to start day. Really good coffee! Enjoyed the Equestrian decor, fireplace and reading by the pool on weekends.

  Nice decor, comfortable bed. Separate "living/kitchen" area. Feels like a cute little studio apartment in the city rather than a boring hotel room! Clean and all amenities in order. Breakfast was really good with lots of choices. Enjoyed sitting out on the back deck while eating. Staff was friendly and attentive. My request for early check-in was graciously honored and the gal at front desk was super helpful in explaining the parking situation. Also the young man who answered our inquiry about the wonderful scent in the lobby and even came out to look at the machine to tell us the brand name. The gentleman at breakfast who came around to let us know he made fresh coffee. All top notch.

  The hotel was lovely. The location good. The staff wonderful and NEARLY everything about this hotel was good. I would’ve given them a near perfect score had I not arrived exhausted and ready for bed only to find that my beautifully bed made was hiding dirty sheets. And when I say dirty, I really mean dirty. There were quite a few hairs, food crumbs and the sheets were worn, dirty and smelled of sweat. It was very clear that whoever had the room before me had a multiple nights stay. I don’t have faith that the sheets were changed after I left. I think that at least one of the maids has some very dirty habits. I pulled all of my blankets off of the bed and left them on the floor when I checked out because while there I came down with the flu. I’m concerned that if they didn’t put clean sheets on the bed that somebody would get infected. I am grossed out.

  We loved the Residence Inn at Dana Point! The hotel was in a great location and the room was spacious and clean. The best part of the stay was the staff they were truly amazing! They let us check in early and they were super helpful throughout our entire stay. Hope at the front desk knew we were leaving very early in the morning so we would miss breakfast so she even packed us a bag full of snacks for us to take with us in the morning. Truly above and beyond! We would definitley stay here again. Thank you!

  This is a great Inn to stay at. Centrally located to shops, beach, freeway, and anything that you want to see. The rooms are very nicely set up. The breakfast has a wide variety of food and drinks. The mixer in the beginning of the week is always a treat. The fitness room is well appointed with a variety of equipment. The pool and spa area are very nice as is the fire ring area, bar-b-que area, and the mini golf green. The staff here is amazing!! Everyone is so nice and wants to make sure you are well taken care of.

  We stayed here last week with my wife and 2 small boys. They enjoyed the pool, spa and the miniature golf section. They were entertained and had fun.   Enjoyed our stay. Quality was very nice, We were there for a wedding at the mission. Lots of weddings going on that weekend. Wi-fi service was terrible in the rooms, though. Took a while to get service. Did better in the lobby. Breakfast was good, but could use more choices. I have an egg allergy, so my choice was fruit or bread or waffles. Need more choices in pastries, muffins, Danish, etc. Because of the large amount of people having breakfast, the waffles irons were always busy. Had one the first day and that is it, could not even get close to it the rest of our stay. The food/drink selection in the lobby was ok, but super expensive. I had to pay $9.00 for a bag of chips and a Gatorade! Did not want to leave the hotel to go to the store because it was late in the evening and did not want to lose my parking spot. Staff was very friendly.

  Stayed here with my family and my fiancé (two separate rooms) and we had a great experience! Rooms are big, clean, and very functional (they include a kitchenette). The hotel has a really nice fitness center and beautiful pool, as well as a tasty breakfast and many group seating options (indoors and outdoors). It’s also down the street from the harbor and centrally located. The best part was the service, which was absolutely exceptional. The assistant manager was warm and engaged with all of the guests and made us feel comfortable and at home right away. We highly highly recommend this residence inn for anyone looking for a nice place to stay (especially with a family) and for amazing service. Worth every penny!

  A perfect place to stay. The staff is accommodating, polite and helpful. Breakfast was yummy and just right to start off the day. AMAZING coffee ;) Rooms are clean, suites have everything in a kitchen you'd need to make a meal (except the food of course). The pool looked beautiful, though we didn't get a chance to actually use it. We were here for a business event nearby. The RI is well-located near everything. I highly recommend staying here!!

  This is by far the most well appointed, quiet and beautiful Residence Inns I've ever stayed in. I am an Elite member and travel often for business. I stay in hotels all over the world. Some good some not so good. But this one happily surprised me. It is beautiful. from the time you walk in, the lobby and the friendly staff make you feel welcomed. I was given a quiet beautiful room on the 3rd floor. Even though the hotel was very busy, near full, due to a local event, I was never disturbed. My fiancé and I enjoyed a wonderful night. The next morning we had an amazing breakfast. I was impressed at how the staff work to keep everything tip top and stocked. Again the hotel was very busy that morning. Sadly we only stayed the one night but I will certainly be back.

  Residence inn was one of the best handicapped rooms I have ever stayed in bed and mattress were perfect. In a week had no complaints about any of the staff. Very important to all the baby boomers turning 65. They were all warm and friendly. Great benefits for business travelers when you don't have time to go to breakfast before your first 8:00 am meeting with their comtnental breakfast. You can eat in your room while making last minute business calls and fixes in their large and convenient work area . Their evening activities were nice to get a break from your work and see others wine and cheese evening were good also had fruit and nonalcoholic drinks. Would definitely recommend and I will be back.

  This Residence Inn is clean, relaxed, welcoming and quiet. I loved that I could bring my dog. Fee for dog a tad high. Really appreciated the nice walkways around the perimeter of the inn. I felt safe and was able to stretch out my own legs from the day's earlier lack of activities. The swimming pool looked inviting. Next time I will use it. The breakfast was perfect. I especially liked the oatmeal. There is coffee in the hospitality room. Nice gesture. Suite was large enough and very comfortable to visit with friends, etc. before going out for dinner. I'd definitely stay at this facility again.

  From the time I first had contact with reservation agent to the time I checked out, I only remember positive experiences. The reservation agent was friendly and extremely helpful. The front desk staff welcomed me with big smiles and made me feel at home. Super clean, the studio I stayed in had a King size bed, a pull out sofa, and a kitchenette. We spent time at the pool, which is salt water(I believe), and enjoyed super clean and uncrowded facilities with awesome view of the canyon. Numerous beaches are a short drive from the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone, including families.

  The hotel is located in a great central area close to the fwys. The only downside is that it's near the railroad tracks so you hear the train once in a while. Otherwise, our hotel room was great! Loved having a kitchen with a full sized fridge, microwave, & dishwasher. It was a spacious room & was clean. The complimentary breakfast was great! You could make your own waffles & they offered other warm breakfast foods. The staff were also friendly & helpful, especially the young gentleman who was the host at breakfast! Overall, it was a great place to stay to help celebrate our 29th Anniversary!

  Great overnight stay. Attended a friend's wedding and was very pleased with my stay. Room was big, clean and quite. Staff was great. Greeted everytime we walked by. Very friendly. I also requested a taxi to take us to the wedding venue who showed up right on time. I was specially pleased with the employee at the dining area who I believe was named, Sean. Greeting everybody and going around each table making sure everything was ok. The food was ok. Overall great experience and would definitely stay again if ever back in the area.

  We were impressed with the layout of the room and the kitchen. The decor of the room was modern and fresh but still felt warm and comfortable. It would have been nicer if they had balconies and if they had given us the room we had requested (upper floor facing the ocean) but instead we ended up with a corner room facing the freeway. Which seems awful, but really it was still great and we heard NO freeway noise or train noise. The breakfast is good. The hotel and grounds are very neat and clean. The pool and fire pit areas have a nice view of the ocean. We were pleasantly surprised and would definitely stay here again!
